QUICK SWATCH // Tarte Tarteist Pro Amazonian Clay Palette

The Tarte Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette is one I've been lusting after for months now.
Although I'm easily enamored with eyeshadow palettes, these days I don't purchase as many as I just can't really justify them, considering the extensive collection I already own. It tends to take a collection of shades that are pretty different to what I already own for me to take the plunge. That's exactly what happened with this palette here! When I wanted to order it a little while back it was out of stock so I waited for a while and checked back every so often (read: every other day) until it was finally there again!
It arrived fairly recently, but me being me, I've already played around with it and used it a fair few times. I thought I should share some of my thoughts (along with some swatches) with you all today and let you know if this palette is as good as it looks!
You get twenty eye shadows in total, as it is a "pro level" palette from Tarte, all housed in a metal and plastic compact.

sixteen matte shades and four metallics. I personally really like this mix as I think it can be a bit of a challenge to find palettes that contain good matte eyeshadows in a wide variety of colours. I like my eyeshadows to be on the neutral side, so this offers up a whole load of possibilities if, like me, you like neutral coloured shades! Having said that, I'm also really glad they included the metallic shades on the side, because I'm a total sucker for a good metallic eyeshadow. Although the greeny turquoise shade isn't necessarily one I'd usually gravitate towards, I'm actually really looking forward to trying it out!

Since I'm awful at shade descriptions, here's a little overview, borrowed from the Tarte website.

The palette features the following shades:
classic (cream)
innocent (soft peach)
whimsy (brick)
smoked (dark brown)
ethereal (bronze)
vintage (ivory)
fierce (cool plum)
no filter (purple mauve)
vamp (deep plum)
glam (champagne)
chic (pale pink)
profesh (taupe)
mod (deep cherry)
drama (maroon)
minx (shimmering mauve)
indie (greige)
bold (light brown)
edgy (chocolate)
punk (black)
trendy (prismatic teal)

Not bad at all! So let's talk shadow quality.

Matte eyeshadows always run the risk of being a little chalky, especially when it comes to the darker shades or pinks and purples. All in all the shadow quality of the mattes in this palette is really good. The formula is buttery and pigmented and really easy to blend out on the lid.

The metallics are all absolutely gorgeous. Formula-wise, as was the case with most of the mattes, they feel buttery and soft to the touch with super impressive pigment. They're very blendable and look gorgeous on the lid. The duo chrome green shade, Trendy, is stunning and reminds me slightly of a similar shade in Urban Decay collection lounge, but with much more blue to it. Ethereal is another shade that's right up my street. It's a copper shade that looks absolutely gorgeous with some of the warm shades in the palette.

As you can see, I ran out of space with the swatches on my arm. I hope they're still somewhat helpful to you.

Overall, you could say I'm a bit smitten with this palette. I think it's one that so many people will get something out of, thanks to the wide range of shades and the mix of metallics and mattes. Yes, there are a few mattes that are drier than the rest, but it's nothing you can't work with and the shades are gorgeous to boot. I'm really looking forward to playing around with this palette more! Now I might have to have a gander at a few of Tarte's other palettes!

HAVE YOU TRIED ANYTHING FROM TARTE?

Stay Toned !
XOXO
