Tips To Fuller Lips & Plump It Lip Plumper

Hi Beauties !

You are probably thinking why the hell does she need lip plumping stuff, and lip enhancing tricks? Well yes I see what you mean, I am lucky enough to have rather large and plump lips; not so lucky when I was younger and the other kids made fun of me for them mind. Due to this lip plumping glosses and overdrawing my lips have never really been top of my agenda, but I do like to try out new products and new techniques – mainly to try even out the corners of my top lip slightly.
There are plenty of ways to make your lips look bigger, the most obvious one is to just draw them on 8mm thicker than your natural lip line, but trust me that looks stupid and people CAN tell.

OVERLINING

This is meant to be subtle, a way to correct uneven lips and make lips appear fuller. Personally, I line my lips on the outside of my natural lip line, and not on it; that way my lips look slightly fuller, poutier and still look natural. Also I tend to line my lips then colour about 5mm in to the lip before applying lipstick, this then gives a slight ombre look to the lip making them appear visually larger.

NUDE LINING & GLOSS

Generally we match our lip liners to our lippie, but if you don’t really wear lipstick on a daily basis then use a nude liner that matches your natural lip colour to line your lips. You can get away with adding a little bit of extra lip area by overdrawing a little, then pop on a lip balm/gloss and you have a natural look that looks a little fuller.

HIGHLIGHT & CONTOUR

Contouring and highlighting isn’t just to carve out some cheekbones; pop a contour colour under your bottom lip in the centre to make your bottom lip appear fuller. This tricks the eyes in to thinking the bottom lip must be full as it’s causing a shadow. If you follow this up with highlighting your cupids bow it will draw attention to your lips, make them appear poutier and very kissable.

LIP VOLUMISERS LIKE PLUMP IT

I remember using lip plumpers in my late teens and them making my lips tingle for hours on end, which resulted in me wanting to claw my lips from my face, but we have come a long way since then. Plump It! Volumising Lip Plumper (£19.99)* is a 24 hour lip plumper, but it only have the tingly feeling for a couple of minutes, which is great as I don’t want to claw my face off then :) How does it work? Well it comes in a click to release tube, so you click the bottom once and the product dispenses on to the soft doe foot applicator.

The amount you use will depend on the look you want: 1 click for a naturally defined look, 2 clicks for fullness and 3 clicks for WOW lips – I did find that 3 clicks seemed to be my limit for tingliness and also any more clicks didn’t seem to plump my lips more so it was just wasting product. The formula is like that of a gloss, just nowhere near as sticky and it dries down so that you can apply lip products on after it.

It works by increasing the blood flow to the lips from ingredients such as VBE and Capsicum – which warm up the lip area and cause the tingling, which in turn increases blood flow and ‘swells’ the lips. I have being using this mostly on my top lip in the corners to puff them out a little (2 clicks for me), and it really makes a difference, especially when used along with the other tips below.

STAY AWAY FROM

Those God awful lip suction things and sucking on shot glasses. These may work but they only work for a short period of time, and not only that but they are damaging & dangerous. Pursing your lips a few times a day for a couple of minutes a time is only ever going to add and deepen lip wrinkles, which in turn makes your lippie bleed. Not only will you have dry wrinkly lips but the vaccum suction caused by the isolated sucking can cause skin breakage and bruising.

What are your tips for fuller lips? Or do you just embrace your natural lips?

XOXO
