When it comes to makeup brushes, it doesn’t get much more hyped up than the Real Techniques line. They’re a great place to start for those first getting into makeup and also a solid choice for those who already have a bunch of brushes and their price means that it’s tempting to collect them all.
considering I’ve got quite a few RT brushes in my arsenal, I’d let you know which ones I think you actually NEED.
REAL TECHNIQUES EXPERT FACE BRUSH –
Although the Buffing Brush is the one that you’ll hear everyone raving about, I also really enjoy the Expert Face brush when it comes to thicker, creamier bases. It’s firm yet still has enough give to buff and blend in foundation without a problem. The fact that it’s so dense would also mean it could work with any cream products like blush or bronzer to really buff it out.
REAL TECHNIQUES BUFFING BRUSH (FOUND IN THE CORE COLLECTION SET) –
As I said, the Buffing Brush is definitely the most sought after brush in the RT range. It’s rounded and not as dense as the EFB so it works well across basically any liquid or creamy (apparently even powder) foundation you have on hand. Even if I’m just blending in a base product with my hands, I always find myself giving it a quick once over with this brush because it really ensures that it all looks like skin.
REAL TECHNIQUES SETTING BRUSH –
This one’s a bit of a multi-tasker. Sometimes I use it to blend in concealer, sometimes I use it to set my under eye or t-zone with loose powder and sometimes I use it for a light dusting of highlighter. The small, soft and loosely packed bristles make it perfect for any of these jobs and probably even more that I haven’t discovered yet.
REAL TECHNIQUES BOLD METALS 100 ARCHED POWDER BRUSH –
Okay, I’ll admit that you don’t need this one because considering that price tag, it’s not a necessity, but it’s still worth a mention because of how awesome it is for a dusting of powder all over the face. If you were to splurge on one from the Bold Metals collection, this would be the one that I’d recommend the most.
REAL TECHNIQUES DUO-FIBRE FACE BRUSH –
My favorite use for this brush is bronzer. Because of the lightweight, duo-fiber bristles, this brush is perfect for making sure that bronzer doesn’t go on patchy or too heavy. So, as you can imagine, the other brush is used for transparent powder, because, again, it’s perfect for a light dusting all over the face with zero cakiness.
REAL TECHNIQUES BASE SHADOW BRUSH –
I haven’t dabbled as much with the eye brushes in the RT range but if this one’s anything to go by then they’re well worth a look. The Base Shadow brush has become my go-to for light applications all over the lid, working beautifully with any of those lazy, one shadow wonders that I love so much. It’s fluffy enough to blend it out effortless but also dense enough to pick up colour from the pan.
Although there are so many other gems in the Real Techniques line, these are the ones that I really recommend tracking down.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE REAL TECHNIQUES BRUSHES?
Stay Toned !
XOXO
