MY THOUGHTS ON THE TARTE SHAPE TAPE CONCEALER

Hey guys

here always seems to be a new concealer coming onto the market and knocking everyone’s socks off. There was the NARS Creamy Concealer, then there was the UD Naked Skin and now Tarte’s Shape Tape Concealer is sitting firmly on top. Everyone was raving about it so naturally, I grabbed it when Tarte was offering a discount on their site so I could try it for myself and see what all the fuss was about.

TARTE SHAPE TAPE CONCEALER

When it first arrived, I was quite surprised by how large the tube was, as well as the doe foot applicator inside. At first, I was a little apprehensive but found the large doe foot works well to really distribute the product under the eyes.

I quickly realized that for me, getting too heavy-handed with my application was going to be an issue. People on Youtube seemed to be going to town when applying it under the eyes but for me, that resulted in it looking a little cakier. I’ve gotten the hang of using only a small amount under each eye. The formula is incredibly pigmented so a little goes a very long way. And it truly gets the job done. A small dot on the inner corner under the eye blends out to cover the whole eye area seamlessly, I find, and covers any dark circles or sallowness I get under the eyes. Instead, it leaves my under eyes looking refreshed and bright.

I picked up the shade light neutral, assuming it’d work well to highlight under my eyes. I was right, the shade is pretty close to my skin tone but provides a subtle brightening effect. All up, there’s an impressive fourteen shades in the range. This formula would work well on spots as well but the shade I have is slightly too light for that.

I find the thick formula works really well when worked into the skin with a damp Beauty Blender. It can take a little while to blend out the formula with my fingers, although the end result is just as good. I’m also in the habit of applying one eye at a time. The formula sets down quickly, so I try to work fast.

The truly incredible thing about this concealer is how it wears. Once blended out onto the skin, it sets without looking noticeable or uncomfortable on the skin. And it stays put all day long. I still set mine with powder but that’s purely out of habit. This concealer works just as well on it’s own and truly looks seamless and natural on the skin.

Overall, this has become my new favorite on days when I need something a little more full coverage. Some mornings, all I need is a bit of a brightening effect so I reach for something lighter. But on the days when I’m really making an effort, this has well and truly become my go-to. Tarte have really knocked it out of the park with this release so it totally makes sense that it’s receiving so much attention.

HAVE YOU TRIED IT YET?

Stay Toned !
