When it comes to hyped-up, cult favorites, it doesn’t come more highly recommended than the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation. It seems to be on everyone’s hit list and I’m genuinely shocked it took me so long to try it.
I wasn’t surprised to see it sitting pretty on top of the list and took it as a sneaky opportunity to purchase it for myself. And since then, it’s been true love. I couldn’t wait to get my thoughts together and report on this beauty.
PACKAGING Luxe, golden, but not entirely travel practical. As beautiful as the square, frosted glass bottle is – the lack of a pump does make this a bit finicky to dispense product from.
APPLICATION
Although it works beautifully with whatever application method you choose, I’ve been really loving applying this one with a sponge. It adds a little more dewiness to the formula and keeps the coverage a little more appropriate for my everyday wear.
If I’m reaching for it for a night out, I go for a dense brush instead so it reaches it’s full potential when it comes to coverage. It’s incredibly buildable. But you may wanna go fast since it dries quickly.
FINISH
It definitely leaves the skin looking quite matte, I’d say satin-matte because it never looks like a flat mask on the skin. It looks really beautiful on the skin – flawless and never cakey. And perfect for those with oilier complexions. For a foundation that has so much coverage, I was surprised by how it looks so invisible on the skin.
SHADE
Estée Lauder recently extended the shade range, which was very exciting, because they finally added a shade that might match even me. Even thou I picked up 2 shades : Sand and Nude just in case I got a tan which i currently I am.
You can see my original shade is a lot lighter at the moment so i'll be using nude till the tan fade away, probably. One of the best foundation matches I’ve found. It can oxidise a little when used with the wrong powder, however.
If you have oily skin, this is always talked about as a must-try and now I can understand why. Satin-matte finish, awesome lasting power and doesn’t have a tendency to settle into pores.
Sick of hearing me rave about it yet? I truly wasn’t expecting to love this one quite as much as I do. My only other niggle with this foundation is that it does have quite a strong smell to it, I’m not a huge fan but I can look past it when the formula is this nice.
I’m glad I finally bit the bullet and added this one into my collection – it’s certainly not going to be an everyday base for me but it’s one of those bases that are nice to have when you need a little bit of extra coverage or staying power.
Haven’t tried it yet? Grab a sample and give it a go because in my opinion, this one is truly worth the hype.?
