FOUNDATION FILES // TARTE AMAZONIAN CLAY FOUNDATION

Hey Guys it's been a while.
sorry for the sudden cut off but I was in London expecting much lol

anyway getting back on track with no delay introducing

TARTE AMAZONIAN CLAY FOUNDATION

The Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation was on my must-buy list for when I was in the States, I’d had my eye on it for the longest time so I was very excited to finally get my mits on it. Tarte says it’s a full coverage, supremely blendable foundation powered by ‘skin-smart’ Amazonian Clay to adjust and meet your skin concerns.

Packaging –
I really love the packaging, I love foundations that come in easy squeeze tubes and I’m a huge fan of the wooden lid. The squeeze tube means it’s easy to dispense just the right amount of product every time.

Application –
This foundation is fairly thick and mousse-y and a little goes a long way. It applies well with both a buffing brush and a Beauty Blender. It can take a bit of time and effort to get it properly blended in, however. The Beauty Blender sheers out the coverage, as can be expected, but the finish product looks about the same. It looks really natural on the skin and isn’t noticeable or cakey.

Finish/Coverage –
The foundation ends up looking like a satin to matte finish on my skin depending on how many layers I use. The coverage is fairly full after one layer, only a little bit of the redness from my cheeks or blemishes peeks through. Another layer amps it up to truly full coverage.

Shade –
I picked up the light - medium shade, Neutral, after quite a bit of deliberation at the stand. It’s described on the Sephora website as the shade for fair skin with a yellow undertone. fortunately, this pulls out great on my skin and takes quite a bit of effort to look natural.

Wear –
The foundation feels really comfortable on the skin, even though it’s quite thick when applied, it blends out nicely and doesn’t feel present on the skin. But, here’s the problem, after a little while of wear (I’m talking 2-3 hours here), the foundation starts to separate and look strange on my t-zone. It settles into pores really obviously and doesn’t handle oil very well. On the rest of my face, which is drier than on my t-zone, it wears fairly well for a longer period of time but can start to look a little cakey after a while. If I touch up and blot the oil, it looks a little better but it tends to just rub off and transfer if it get too oily.

If you have dry skin, this could be a good one to try –
it’s full coverage and doesn’t pick up on dry patches too obviously and wears comfortably for a good amount of time.
If you have tend to get a bit oily, this might be a bit of a miss, unless you really want to spend time setting your t-zone and blotting throughout the day.

Overall, this foundation –
sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn’t. I find myself reaching for this one when i want my skin to look flawless now and then.
I really like the finish if I’m in the mood for full coverage and don’t need it to last me through a 12 hour day.
