FOUNDATION FILES // Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation

I was fairly blown away when i grabbed the package at sephora of their new Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation.

Even the name hinted at a formula that I’d love so I was very excited to give it a go. I can already tell that those that love the glowy skin look will be all about this foundation.

PACKAGING

Becca kills the game yet again. It’s in a beautiful frosted glass bottle with a screw top lid. Inside the bottle is a dropper – the lid, when turned, opens to reveal a button so that the foundation can be easily pumped onto a brush, a Beauty Blender or your hands. It’s sleek, simple and easy to use.

FINISH/COVERAGE The formula is lightweight and thin. You only need a few drops of the foundation to provide a really great coverage – I’d say light/medium, depending on the brush that you use to apply it with. The finish is probably the best bit – perfect for those that love a luminous finish because this foundation definitely lives up to it’s name. Each time I use this my skin looks glowy but not greasy. When I set it down with a bit of powder, the luminosity remains but it’s not quite as overly dewy. The finish adds a look of healthiness to the skin while also providing coverage to even it out. I love the finish that this foundation gives – so healthy and glowing, I can imagine it being perfect for winter when my skin needs all the help it can get to look dewy. APPLICATION I’ve been trying the foundation with a few different methods. Using a dense brush (like Buffing Brush) makes the coverage a little fuller but dulls the luminosity down a little bit, it also can take a bit of blending before things stop looking streaky and start looking seamless. I find that it really sits on the skin when I use a denser brush. A more flexible brush works a little better, it’s a little quicker to blend in and leaves the foundation looking glowy but still leaves some of the foundation sitting on top of the skin. The Beauty Blender does the best job, in my opinion, however, still providing a decent dose of coverage, still giving the glow but without looking overly heavy. Because this stuff doesn’t really seem to set down onto the skin completely I find the Beauty Blender works best to get rid of any of the excess product that might be sitting on the skin.

WEAR I’d definitely recommend setting this one down with a powder, as it does transfer if you leave it be. Because it’s so glowy it doesn’t entirely set down by itself. As for lasting through the day – it’s all about setting it. Once I’ve put a light dusting of powder over the top, things keep looking luminous all day long without really losing any of the coverage. I can imagine a bit of a mattifying primer in the T-zone would have a similar effect. A little bit disappears along the chin but that’s fairly common for me, anyway. The problem only appears when I don’t set it down at all – after a few hours I’m looking oily, not glowy and it’s definitely not cute. Particularly on my t-zone, the foundation keeps it’s coverage, it just really needs a blot down to keep me from looking a little too over the top. SHADE

Practically all shades tend to have yellow undertone, I'm in the shade light which supersized me since it was matching my skin tone. I usually a medium person but apparently not this time.

If you have dry skin, this could be right up your alley. It’s essentially dewy skin in a bottle while still providing enough coverage to suit most people. The problems I had with it starting to look a little too glowy throughout the day might not be as much of an issue for you but I’d still recommend setting it down with powder to stop transferring.

If you have oily skin, if you love a luminous finish and really take the time to set it down with powder and continue to blot during the day then this could work for you but it’s worth trying out a sample first to see how it goes with your skin.

For me, this will definitely be my go to foundation when I’ve got a bit of fake tan on or in the summer months when my complexion warm up a little bit – the formula is too good to pass up.

DOES THIS FOUNDATION SOUND LIKE IT’D WORK FOR YOU?

Stay Toned !
XOXO
