I’m a bit of a creature of habit with brows – when I find something that works I stick to it. This is particularly the case when I’m doing my makeup in a hurry. A shoddy brow pencil can make or break your whole makeup, so I always reach for my favorites. Luckily, there’s a couple of them in my collection that I just can’t put down.
L.A GIRL ARCH BROW SCULPTING PENCIL
The OG favorite. This is the one that’s stuck around the longest in my collection and was definitely the turning point for me when it came to understanding how to fill in brows. The angled nib is great for filling in sparse patches. It’s been a favorite for so long but now a very similar pencil (that I’ll mention in a sec) might just have it beaten. I used Brown and find it’s really great for me but it can get a little warm if I go too heavy-handed.
ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS BROW WIZ
Nothing can really come close to brow products from the queen of brows, Anastasia Beverly Hills. Somehow, she just gets it right every time. Although I’ve been keen to get my hands on the Brow Definer, the Brow Wiz still remains a favorite when I need proper control and precision. The teeny nib is so effective when it comes to emulating every individual brow hair so I particularly love using this at the front of my brow to really give the illusion of fullness. I use Taupe in the ABH products and find it works perfectly – never too warm.
BENEFIT COSMETICS GOOF PROOF BROW PENCIL
The Benefit brow releases of last year really took me by surprise, so much so that there’s now two firm favorites in my brow collection. Goof Proof is my number one for a quick and easy application in the mornings, the angled nib is reminiscent of the L.A Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil but it’s a little smaller, and subsequently a little easier to control. If you have a couple of sparse patches in your brows then this would be my pick, especially as it’s cheaper than the L.A , too. I dabble with Shades 3 and 4, personally, and find they both work well, with Shade 4 being just a little more intense.
BENEFIT COSMETICS PRECISELY, MY BROW PENCIL
The other Benefit offering is Precisely, My Brow – their answer to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. I find the packaging of the Benefit products to be really high quality, with the added bonus of being totally beautiful to look at. Precisely, My Brow would be my recommendation to you if you already have quite even brows, with minimal sparse patches, and just like to add a little more fullness to them. The small nib emulates brow hairs, similar to the ABH Brow Wiz, and really helps to define the shape of your brow.
Although I’ll be the first to admit that having four almost identical brow pencils in my collection is overkill, they’re all such great formulas that I can wholeheartedly recommend any of them to you, depending on what you’re after. As for the brow powder, that’s me stepping out of my mechanical pencil comfort zone and so far, I’m impressed.
